NRO pardoned person is not fit to become President: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Pakistan has called for nominating a person of integrity for the post of the president of Pakistan who could become a symbol of the federation.

In a press conference addressed in Islamabad the Chairman lamented the statement of PPP Co- Chairman in which he justified going back on his sworn and signed agreement as it did not serve his interest any more.

He said that the politicians are role models for society , Leaders that disown their public commitments are not fit to hold any public office let alone the office of the President of Pakistan. A person who was pardoned under the illegal NRO issued by unconstitutional and illegal president who had given details of $1.5 billion of his corruption should never be elected as the president.

Imagine the humiliation of the country whose president faces charges of money laundering in Swiss Court. How can people from home or abroad trust or enter into serious commitments with a person whose written commitments means nothing to him.

The US may support Zardari’s candidacy as they want a “One Window Operation”. By becoming president the PPP chairman would have all the powers of 17th amendment and he would control the executive by having a pliant PM and even more pliant PCO judges thus making it easy for the US to push their agenda through this one person. In fact indications point to the fact that the PPP co chairman has all the hall marks of becoming Musharraf mark II.

The Chief said that our country is sinking into chaos and anarchy. The excessive and indiscriminate use of force by the military against its own citizens has led to the exodus of over 300K people from Bajaur alone. In India , there were almost 10 insurgencies and not once did not the Indian army use bombing in any one of them.

He fared repeat of the 1971 tragedy unless the government takes serious initiative to cease all military operations in the tribal areas and withdraws troops leading to a political settlement. He said in 1971 also, the people of West Pakistan were conditioned that the Bengalis are traitors and the only way to deal with them was through force. We all know the consequence of the use of force against fellow citizens. This is a conspiracy against the armed forces of Pakistan who are demoralized fighting their own people. We cannot allow foreign interests to ruin our unity, internal peace and stability. We must drawn line beyond which we should not compromise under any circumstances. Foreign countries are not even willing to send their cricket teams to Pakistan then how will we think of any possibility of foreign investment into country. when the flight of capital is at its peak and no foreign investment is coming in. the chances of an economic collapse are imminent the warned.

Imran Khan said that after the Feb 18 elections people wanted a change in policies and not just in faces. By continuing to act as mercenaries for US, we have destroyed our internal security. Without internal security the country will simply collapse. According to PPP MNA, Syed Akhunzada the Bajaur operation is strengthening the Taliban. The relative of any civilian killed are potential recruits for the Taliban. Gen Aurakzai, ex governor of NWFP gave a statement that there will be no peace in Afghanistan/Pakistan tribal areas till Nato withdraws from Afghanistan.

Chief said that the un-ethical conduct of the politicians is only discrediting the political process. Those in the government must end this unending political show on TV channels and get down to the business of governance after re-installing the Nov 3rd judiciary.
